HEAR/HEAR is a bi-annual reading series featuring writers from the NOW HEAR THIS! program. All readers are actively involved in fostering creative writing in catholic highschools across Toronto. HEAR/HEAR is a way of saying thank-you to their tireless effort and support all the work they do in and outside of the classroom. Many times HEAR/HEAR is an opportunity for NOW HEAR THIS! writers to showcase polished works or workshop new pieces with the public. All HEAR/HEAR events are free and all-ages and runs at The Supermarket from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
NOW HEAR THIS! is the literacy outreach arm of the Descant Arts & Letters Foundation. The program connects professional authors with community groups, students and aspiring writers in order to promote Canadian literature and encourage self-expression, critical thinking and empowerment through literacy education.
NOW HEAR THIS! connects writers with youth in schools through their S.W.A.T. program and also connects writers with youth in non-traditional environments such as at-risk youth organizations, community centres, shelters through the WRITE ON! program.
